Hi, I’m Caitlyn, but you can call me Cait. I’m a North Carolina mom of two wild, wonderful boys, wife to Sully (yup..like monsters inc) and a NICU nurse with a deep-rooted passion for helping babies thrive.
My career has taken me from the Pediatric Cardiac ICU to the Pediatric PACU, and now to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. No matter where I’ve been, one thing has always remained true, I love caring for babies and supporting families during some of their most vulnerable moments.
But nothing prepared me for my own journey into motherhood. When my husband Sully and I welcomed our first baby Crew, I was determined to breastfeed. I thought it would come naturally, I didn't prepare. I mean we're made to do this right? Despite being told by the hospital lactation that I had “perfect nipples” I found myself at home the very next day with cracked, bleeding nipples, a screaming hungry baby, and no idea what to do. After many tears (from both of us), I made the switch to exclusive pumping. I felt lost, I quickly went down the google rabbit hole. I followed Influencers to figure out the basics and ended up exclusively pumping for 11 months.
With my second baby Emmett, I was determined to have a different experience. I had more education, prenatal support from an IBCLC, and confidence going in. But once again, our journey was filled with challenges. Em wasnt transferring milk, we were triple feeding, going to endless appointments with Speech Therapy, Lactation and the Chiropracter all while managing a toddlers who world just was upended and the emotional (and physical) exhaustion was real . Eventually, I made the decision that changed everything: my mental health mattered too.
That decision is what led me here. I realized how deeply I needed support, guidance, and a community—and how many other moms felt the same way. So I began sharing my journey, connecting with other mothers, and turning my personal experience into a professional passion.
Today, I am a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and currently awaiting my results from the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam.
